About Birmingham Airport

Birmingham Airport, more precisely Birmingham International Airport, is situated 5.5 nautical miles east southeast downtown Birmingham, at Bickenhill in the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull into the West Midlands, England. It provides both domestic flights within the UK, and international flights to Europe, the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East, North America and the Caribbean.

Birmingham owes a CAA Public Use Aerodrome License which allows flights for the public transport of passengers or for flying instruction.

In June 2008 began the construction of the ‘International Pier’. It has been officially opened on 9 September 2009. The airport welcomed the Airbus A380 as the first user of the dock as part of the airport's 70th anniversary. This particular assistance was the first commercial A380 flight in the UK to take place outside London Heathrow Airport.

Birmingham International Airport announced in January 2010 that they are going to spend £13 on combining Terminals 1&2, in order to improve passenger crowds and operational power.

Those wanting to buy gifts and last minute travel necessities can choose from the numerous shopping outlets, where one can easily have access to brands like: WHSmith, WHSmith books, Boots, Accessorizes, Sunglass Hut, La Senza, Austin Reed and Spa.
